This 1958 Les Paul Murphy Aged Gold Top from Gibson reproduces both look and sound of the original electric guitar to an amazing degree. From the single-ply cream binding to the acrylic trapezoid inlays to the vintage tulip tuners, this Gibson Les Paul guitar looks like it came through a time machine. In addition to the accurate choice and quality of woods, the tone of BurstBucker pickups, CTS pots, and bumble bee capacitors will take you back to the golden age of rock guitar the moment you plug it in and play.The Les Paul Murphy Aged '58 Gold Top is an electric guitar painstakingly reproduced by Gibson's Nashville Custom Shop with vintage vibe and an aged nitrocellulose finish. Only 100 of these special guitars will be produced. 1958 Les Paul sunbursts are rare enough, but '58 Gold Tops are rarer yet. This re-creation was inspired by the incredible looks, sound, and playability of one specific '58 Gold Top. The highly involved antiquing process is done by hand, one guitar at a time, by guitar artisan Tom Murphy. It's not a chemical process, but a very time-consuming and tedious job that includes a multitude of elaborate steps. Through much trial and error, Murphy has developed an amazing ability to recreate the checked and chipped finish of a true vintage instrument with great success. Your '58 Les Paul guitar will carry the look of a thousand smoky bar gigs, countless sessions, and maybe even a few world tours.
